Replacement retainers online
If your clear retainer was lost, damaged, or is due for replacement, Mavira offers custom upper-and-lower sets made from an at-home impression kit. One matched set starts at $120, two sets cost $150, and three sets cost $180. Retainers are intended to help maintain your current tooth position; they do not actively straighten teeth.
What to do when a retainer is lost or damaged
Check your current fit
If you still have the retainer, look for cracks, distortion, rough edges, or a fit that has changed. Do not force a retainer that will not seat normally.
Decide whether remote replacement is suitable
At-home impressions can be a convenient route when you need a retainer for your current tooth position and do not have symptoms that require an in-person examination.
Order without unnecessary delay
Follow the guidance you received after orthodontic treatment. If you are unsure how often to wear a retainer or what to do while waiting, contact your dentist or orthodontist.
Replacement retainer pricing
Every Mavira set contains one upper and one lower clear retainer. The effective per-set price falls when multiple sets are selected in the same order.
| Quantity | Total | Per set | Common reason to choose it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 upper + lower set | $120 | $120 | Replace one current set |
| 2 upper + lower sets | $150 | $75 | Keep one set in reserve |
| 3 upper + lower sets | $180 | $60 | Lowest per-set price |
Shipping charges and return directions are shown at checkout and with the order. The $60 figure is the per-set calculation for the $180 three-set option, not a $60 single-set offer. See the clear retainer cost guide for more detail.
How the mail-in replacement process works
1. Receive the impression kit
Your order begins with materials and instructions for taking impressions at home. Read the instructions before mixing any impression material so you understand the sequence and timing.
2. Take your impressions
Complete the upper and lower impressions as directed. A clear, complete impression matters because it supplies the shape used for custom fabrication.
3. Mail them to the lab
Use the provided return-shipping materials. The impressions are reviewed before fabrication; if more information or another impression is needed, support can explain the next step.
4. Receive the finished retainers
The lab fabricates the selected number of matched upper-and-lower sets and sends them to the shipping address on your order. Review shipping and fit support for current details.
When to order online—and when to contact a professional
An online replacement can be appropriate when you need a new retainer made for your present tooth position and can successfully complete at-home impressions. It can also be useful when you no longer have a usable model or scan from your previous provider.
Seek dental or orthodontic guidance first if:
- Your teeth appear to have shifted substantially or your bite feels different.
- Your existing retainer will not seat fully, or wearing it causes significant or persistent pain.
- You have swelling, bleeding, sores, decay, loose teeth, or another active dental concern.
- You expect the retainer to move teeth into a different position.
- Your dentist or orthodontist told you that your retention plan requires in-person monitoring.
A retainer should help hold the current position of teeth. It is not an aligner and should not be used to attempt active tooth movement. If your situation is unclear, an in-person examination is the safer starting point.
Should you order a spare replacement set?
A spare can reduce disruption if your everyday set is lost while traveling, damaged, or accidentally discarded. It can also keep you from having to repeat the ordering process immediately. However, extra retainers are not necessary for everyone, and they should be stored correctly so they are still usable when needed.
Keep each clean, dry retainer in its ventilated case, away from heat, pets, and direct sunlight. Before switching to a stored set, inspect it and make sure it seats normally. If your teeth have changed since the set was fabricated, contact a dental professional instead of forcing it. Learn more in the backup retainer set guide.
Replacement retainer questions
Can Mavira copy my old retainer?
Mavira's online process uses new upper and lower impressions taken with the mailed kit. The retainers are fabricated from accepted impressions rather than simply copying a worn or damaged appliance.
What is included in one set?
One set means one clear upper retainer plus one clear lower retainer. Mavira lists one-, two-, and three-set quantities.
Can a new retainer move shifted teeth back?
That is not the purpose of a retainer. If teeth have moved or a previous retainer no longer fits, consult a dentist or orthodontist about the appropriate next step.
What if I have a fit concern?
Stop forcing the appliance and contact Mavira through the support page. For current fit-support, return, and refund terms, review the shipping and returns overview and the official refund policy.
