Ordering Retainers Online: A Before-Checkout Checklist

Compare retainer packages, impression steps, delivery timelines and fit support with this practical checklist for ordering replacement retainers online.

Before ordering retainers online, check exactly what you are buying, how your impressions will be handled, the full delivery process, and what happens if you need help. A clear price is useful only when you know whether it covers one arch or both, the impression kit, and the finished retainers.

Use the checklist below to compare the complete order rather than just the headline offer. It is designed for replacement-retainer shopping, not for choosing teeth-straightening treatment.

1. Check what “one set” means

Read the selected option, not just the product title. Does it include an upper retainer, a lower retainer, or a matched pair? If you are ordering several sets, confirm how many individual appliances you will receive.

For example, Mavira’s current one-set option includes one upper and one lower retainer for $120. Two sets are $150 and three sets are $180. Those are package prices, not monthly charges. Check the current selections on the Mavira product page before purchasing.

Write down the total for the option you actually need. Comparing an upper-only quote with an upper-and-lower quote can make the cheaper-looking choice misleading. Our replacement-retainer cost guide explains more of the factors to compare.

2. Separate the impression kit from the finished product

Look for a clear answer to two questions: what arrives first, and what must happen before your retainers can be made? An impression kit is one stage of the order; it is not the finished appliance.

Mavira’s process starts with a kit sent to your home. You take impressions using the supplied directions, return them to the lab, and receive the custom retainers after fabrication. Read the at-home impressions guide to understand the process, then use the instructions included with your particular kit.

Before starting, locate the support contact and find out what to do if you are unsure about an impression. Mavira’s current policy provides a free replacement impression kit if your impressions do not turn out. Contact support for the next step rather than improvising changes to the process.

3. Ask about the whole timeline

A shipping estimate may describe only one journey. For an at-home impression order, consider kit delivery, your time completing and returning impressions, review and production, and delivery of the finished retainers.

Mavira distinguishes carrier transit from lab turnaround. Its faster shipping options affect transit, not impression review or production. If you have a particular date in mind, ask support what is realistic before paying for an upgrade. Read the current shipping and fit-support details; do not treat an estimate as a guaranteed arrival date.

4. Read the support terms before you need them

Save the policy link and your order confirmation. Look for a contact method, the period for reporting a problem, the information support needs, and any instructions for returning an item. A fit-remake policy and a refund policy answer different questions, so read both.

Mavira currently lists free standard shipping at every stage and a free remake for fit concerns within 90 days of delivery. Its policy also describes eligible returns and how to request assistance. Check those current terms before ordering, and contact support before sending anything back.

5. Know when to ask your orthodontist first

Retainers maintain tooth position; a replacement retainer is not a plan to straighten teeth. If your existing retainer no longer fits or wearing it causes pain, do not force it. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends contacting your orthodontist for an assessment in that situation.

Order support can answer questions about the package and process. Your dentist or orthodontist is the right person to assess changes in your teeth or bite and advise on your wear plan.

Your before-checkout checklist

  • I know whether the order includes upper, lower, or both retainers.
  • I checked the number of sets and the full price.
  • I understand the impression and return steps.
  • I checked the complete timeline, not only shipping speed.
  • I saved the support and return terms.
  • I have asked my orthodontist about any fit or dental concerns.
